Clara Alfsdotter has a Master´'s degree in archaeology and a bachelor's degree in osteology from the University of Lund, Sweden. She is currently working as a field archaeologist in Western Sweden.

Maria Åkesson has a Master's and bachelor's degree in archaeology from the University of Lund. She works as a field archaeologist in Southern Sweden.

Both Alfsdotter and Åkesson partially conducted their university studies at Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perù in Lima, financed by the Linneaus Palme Program at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

Although the studies in Peru were spent at different times, we both took great interest in the ongoing work with integrating local communities in archaeological projects. We are now eager to study how this manner of conducting archaeology affects local, rural communities socially.
